EAST BRIDGEWATER — Chief Michael Jenkins reports that the East Bridgewater Police Department arrested and charged an East Bridgewater man with operating under the influence of alcohol after crashing a car into a home last night.
JACK SULLIVAN, AGE 18, of EAST BRIDGEWATER, was arrested and charged with the following:
- OUI Liquor
- Marked Lanes Violation
- Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle
- Speeding
- Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Electronic Device Use While Operating a Motor Vehicle
- Minor in Possession of Alcohol
SULLIVAN is expected to be arraigned in Brockton District Court today.
On Monday, Sept. 2, at approximately 8:30 p.m., East Bridgewater Police were dispatched to Pond St. for a report of a car that had crashed into a house.
Upon arrival, officers observed a white sedan on the front lawn of the home at 235 Pond St. There was a broken fence on the front lawn, there were tire marks across the lawn and a trailer on the front lawn was struck.
SULLIVAN was outside of the vehicle when police arrived. Officers detected a strong odor of alcohol emanating from SULLIVAN. A search of SULLIVAN’S vehicle revealed two open containers of alcohol.
While under arrest, SULLIVAN was transported by the East Bridgewater Fire Department to a local hospital for evaluation of possible injuries.
Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department BCI also responded to the scene.
The investigation determined that SULLIVAN was traveling west on Pond Street at approximately 50 mph, which is 20 mph over the speed limit. Due to the high rate of speed, SULLIVAN lost control of the vehicle and crossed over the double solid yellow line, exited the roadway, struck the trailer, struck the fence on the front lawn and then came to a rest when the vehicle struck the house at 235 Pond St. He was allegedly filming a video on his phone when the crash occurred.
No other injuries were reported.
These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
