EAST BRIDGEWATER — Town Administrator Charles Seelig and the Town of East Bridgewater are pleased to present an initial Americans with Disabilities Act Transition Plan for public input.

Through a planning grant as part of the Massachusetts Department of Revenue’s Community Compact program, the Town of East Bridgewater contracted with The Edward J. Collins, Jr. Center for Public Management at UMass Boston to assist with a Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan under Under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

The self-evaluation portion examines the town’s public facilities, programs, services, and more to determine ADA compliance and identify barriers to accessibility. The subsequent Transition Plan is a rolling and fluid document that assesses identified barriers and guides corrective actions to ensure full ADA accessibility.

The draft Transition Plan was recently provided to the East Bridgewater Select Board and will be available for public comment from Sept. 20 to Oct. 30.

To receive a paper copy of the documents, contact Town Administrator Seelig at cseelig@eastbridgewaterma.gov or 508-378-1601.

Comments and questions concerning the Town’s ADA Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan should be sent to Town Administrator Seelig at cseelig@eastbridgewaterma.gov or in writing to 175 Central St., East Bridgewater, MA 02333.

“We are pleased to be working with the Collins Center to complete our ADA Transition Plan and ensure equitable access to East Bridgewater’s facilities, programs and services,” Town Administrator Seelig said. “We are asking community members to provide input on this Plan to highlight any remaining deficiencies we can address and correct.”
