EAST BRIDGEWATER — Chief Michael Jenkins is pleased to share that the East Bridgewater Police Department has been awarded $29,998.80 in state grant funding to improve road safety.
The Healey-Driscoll Administration awarded more than $12.4 million in funding through the Municipal Road Safety, State Agency Traffic Safety, and Underserved Communities Traffic Safety Grant Programs.
The East Bridgewater Police Department received funding through the Municipal Road Grant Safety Program. The funding will allow departments to afford road safety initiatives such as traffic safety enforcement, bicyclist and pedestrian safety enforcement, non-enforcement activities such as training or community events, and the purchase of traffic safety equipment or other community safety items such as bike helmets.
The EBPD plans to tackle specific issues such as speed enforcement, impaired driving (driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs) as well as distracted driving, and promote the Click It or Ticket campaign.
“On behalf of the East Bridgewater Police Department, I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation for this state grant funding from the Healey-Driscoll Administration,” said Chief Jenkins. “Our priority is to keep the roads safe for our community members at all times, and with this generous funding, we can make this happen.”
