East Bridgewater Police Arrest Man on Multiple Charges Following Alleged Road Rage Incident

EAST BRIDGEWATER — Chief Michael Jenkins reports that the East Bridgewater Police Department arrested a man on multiple charges following an alleged road rage incident on Sunday. ALAN EUGENE STEC, AGE 61, of EAST BRIDGEWATER, was arrested and charged with:

• Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (Two Counts)
• Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon on a Child Under 14
• Assault with a Dangerous Weapon
• Malicious Destruction of Property Under $1,200
• Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle
• Disorderly Conduct
• Resisting Arrest
• Failure to Stop for Police
• Assault and Battery on a Police Officer (Three Counts)
• Assault and Battery (Three Counts)
• Marked Lanes Violation
• Failure to Stop or Yield

STEC is expected to be arraigned today in Brockton District Court. On Sunday, Sept. 29, at approximately 12:05 p.m., East Bridgewater Police received a 911 call for a report of a road rage incident in the area of 555 Washington St. A driver had intentionally struck another vehicle and was attempting to hit multiple people who were on foot with his car. Upon arrival, officers located a damaged vehicle that refused to stop for officers. The car continued onto a lawn, then narrowly missed a police cruiser and oncoming traffic on Washington Street. The driver continued driving into the backyard of a home, refusing multiple orders from officers to stop. The operator of the vehicle, later identified as STEC, eventually exited the vehicle near a wooded area behind the home and attempted to flee on foot. When STEC refused commands to stop, an officer deployed their Taser. STEC allegedly spit on officers after he was taken into custody. STEC was initially transported to a local hospital for an evaluation, then released to the custody of East Bridgewater Police and brought to the police station for booking. He was held on $250,000 bail at the police station pending his arraignment. These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
